EMERGENCY

Do you have an EAP, Emergency Action Plan, at home?

What do you in case of a fire, flood, tornado, hurricane, earthquake?

This is really important and is required by OSHA at work so it is something that you should put into practice in your own homes as well.

FEMA has this great booklet to help you prepare for nearly any type of emergency that could potentially arise.  Please take a few moments to read through this and make your EAP for your home and do practice runs and fire drills to be sure everyone even your littlest ones understand what they should be doing.

I know this looks like a HUGE thing to look through at 204 pages but look at the areas that apply to you in your geographical location and go over the checklist in those areas and the back of the booklet.  There is a TON of great info in here and if you don't utilize it then all I can say is SHAME on you!  It is free and a great resource so take advantage of it!

Are You Ready Full[1]

Some of you may be wondering why this and why now??? Well this past weekend in a state known for Severe Thunderstorms and massive tornadoes plus ice storms of epic proportions we suffered our strongest earthquake ever recorded here in central Oklahoma.  I felt it strong at my home in west central measuring a 5.6 magnitude.  It shook my home at approx. 10:45 on Saturday night for 90 sec. and scared the beejeezesus out of me!

Cleanup begins after 5.6 magnitude quake

So in the wake of that I started thinking my family does NOT have a EAP for earthquakes and yesterday my daughter and I sat down and discussed this and created one to add to our existing one that deals with earthquakes.

This is something that was an afterthought but I wanted to bring it to your attention hopefully before anything terrible happens and you wish after the fact you would have done it.

As always ladies stay safe and hopefully no more rockin' and rollin' here in Central Oklahoma!
