Get Your Flags Ready!

Please join me in the Fly The Flag campaign and share this information with friends and family. We have less than 2 weeks and counting to get the word out across this great land and into every community in the United States of America.

On Sunday, September 11th, 2011, an American Flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office and store in the United States.  Every individual should make it their duty to display an American Flag on this the tenth anniversary of  one of our country's worst tragedies.  We do this in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American Flags, as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder - to - shoulder against terrorism.  Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared.  Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity.  Our American Flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.

So, here's what we all need to do.....

  1.  Share this information with everyone you know.  Think back a moment about how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.
  2. FLY or DISPLAY the American Flag of any size on 9/11.  As Americans we should fly the flag year -round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.

The secret tire code

How many of  you knew there is a encrypted code on the side of your tires and all those numbers and letters actually have a very practical meaning?

I have had a tire separate on me years ago with my toddler in the backseat in her car seat and it was a wake up call to me that we put our lives every day in the strength of our tires and are they really that safe?

Are you single?  A single mom? A oilfield wife? A military wife?  These are things we sometimes have to handle ourselves and knowledge is the key to keep from being taken advantage of by others who think we don't know any better ;-)

Also don't forget about the contest currently going on! Check out this post for more info..

As always Stay Safe
and
Happy Monday!

Work in Progress

So welcome everyone! This Blog is going to be a HUGE work in progress but I wanted to go ahead and get it up in running so hang with me here in the beginning ;-) I promise it is only going to get better from here!

So yesterday, Friday was I was in "Driver's Training" this is required by my employer every two years and since I spend what seems like 25 of the 24 hours a day in my vehicle driving from well site to drilling pad to tank battery etc.. I can understand.  This is just something that comes along with working onshore!

The class was "OK" it was a AAA created class and was a bit dry and 6 hours straight in the classroom talking about driving can really start to wear on you but the instructor was really great! He knew it was a dry subject and really added info, stats, tidbits and some video clips that helped every one's mood!  (There were 25 of us in there all from my well servicing company).  The bonus of it all is I get an insurance discount on my personal insurance just for attending so that isn't too shabby!

I just wanted to share a couple of things with you all that I was surprised to find out myself plus some funnies I know you will all get a kick out of!

A friendly reminder that we are role models for our kids and we are ALWAYS being watched!

  • Did you know that at any given daylight moment there are 974,000 people ON THE ROAD chatting away or texting away on their cell phones?
  • Did you know that the amount of people who are killed on our roads each and every year would EQUAL 3 full 737 airplanes crashing EVERY WEEK for a year with NO SURVIVORS? Why is this an acceptable risk to us?  (if we even have one plane crash a year with one fatality the FAA is all over it)
I was shocked at both of those statistics my pet peeve is seeing people on their flippin' cell phones while driving! I have a bunch more info on that and will save it for another day.  I also was SHOCKED at the numbers of fatalities on our roadways!  I know there are some of you reading this that are scared to fly but you should be scared to enter the roadways seriously, it is far more dangerous!

Just some interesting stuff my safety chick brain was clicking and I wanted to share it with all of you.. Ok, now I want to leave you all on a funny note!

Everyone take care have a great Saturday and BE SAFE!
