Work in Progress

So welcome everyone! This Blog is going to be a HUGE work in progress but I wanted to go ahead and get it up in running so hang with me here in the beginning ;-) I promise it is only going to get better from here!

So yesterday, Friday was I was in "Driver's Training" this is required by my employer every two years and since I spend what seems like 25 of the 24 hours a day in my vehicle driving from well site to drilling pad to tank battery etc.. I can understand.  This is just something that comes along with working onshore!

The class was "OK" it was a AAA created class and was a bit dry and 6 hours straight in the classroom talking about driving can really start to wear on you but the instructor was really great! He knew it was a dry subject and really added info, stats, tidbits and some video clips that helped every one's mood!  (There were 25 of us in there all from my well servicing company).  The bonus of it all is I get an insurance discount on my personal insurance just for attending so that isn't too shabby!

I just wanted to share a couple of things with you all that I was surprised to find out myself plus some funnies I know you will all get a kick out of!

A friendly reminder that we are role models for our kids and we are ALWAYS being watched!

  • Did you know that at any given daylight moment there are 974,000 people ON THE ROAD chatting away or texting away on their cell phones?
  • Did you know that the amount of people who are killed on our roads each and every year would EQUAL 3 full 737 airplanes crashing EVERY WEEK for a year with NO SURVIVORS? Why is this an acceptable risk to us?  (if we even have one plane crash a year with one fatality the FAA is all over it)
I was shocked at both of those statistics my pet peeve is seeing people on their flippin' cell phones while driving! I have a bunch more info on that and will save it for another day.  I also was SHOCKED at the numbers of fatalities on our roadways!  I know there are some of you reading this that are scared to fly but you should be scared to enter the roadways seriously, it is far more dangerous!

Just some interesting stuff my safety chick brain was clicking and I wanted to share it with all of you.. Ok, now I want to leave you all on a funny note!

Everyone take care have a great Saturday and BE SAFE!
